Here Comes The Bride

There is nothing that I love more than a bridal fashion show and today was the cream of the crop – Vera Wang.  I was lucky enough to sit in for the fashion show at the Here Comes The Bride Event held at The Chestnut Hill Mall in Brookline. Vera Wang Boston gave a fashion show showing some of their top wedding looks from their 2011 Fall Collection.  I am loving Ms. Wang’s use of tulle and hand cut organza.  It was a refreshing change from the lace sleeve craze that has dominated all fall 2011 collections since the royal wedding this past spring.  Vera Wang’s Fall line is light and airy and her use of horsehair bow sashes is a fun and eclectic way to jazz up a plain gown.

The Here Comes The Bride event was a high end vendor event for upcoming brides and boston area bridal vendors.  The goodie bags were also top notch and filled with prizes like Bobbie Brown makeup, a lancome makeup bag, kiels face lotion, the latest edition of Well Wed magazine and other fun goodies.  See the slideshow above for a glimpse as well as some of my favorite Vera Wang looks for fall.  Fun day!

Catwalk for a Cure Preview

Today I met with one of my models for the Catwalk for a Cure fashion show.  Marybeth was being interviewed for a story that will be published in her hometown paper, The Patriot Ledger.  The reporter took a few pictures of the fitting for her story.

Marybeth looked great!  She is wearing one of six designs that I’ll be showing this month.  A few more tweaks and she’ll be runway ready.  I can’t wait for her to strut her stuff down the catwalk!

Be on the lookout for Marybeth and her inspiring story in The Patriot Ledger about her battle with breast cancer.  I have every faith that this amazing woman will conquer this horrible disease and then some.

Lay Off My Blue [Canvas] Shoes

Today’s project is courtesy of my sister “M.”  She had a pair of TOMS canvas shoes that were a bit boring.  With the help of some RIT dye in shade “Evening Blue” we turned those shoes from boring to “Wow!”

Here are the steps:

1. Wash and clean shoes

2. Fill a large pot with very hot water

3. Dip in shoes, making sure they are completely covered by the water.  Stir occasionally.  Leave shoes in dye for approximately 10 – 15 minutes depending on desired shade.

4.  Rinse shoes in cool water until the water rinses clean.

It’s that easy!

Here is a sketch preview of the dresses for Practically Broadway’s Catwalk for the Cure fashion show in October at The State Room in Boston.  The garments will be modeled on the runway by breast cancer survivors and professional models at the event.

Think pink! :)

Fashioneer

As I was trolling the blogs this morning I came across a fun post on ModCloth.com.   The ”word” ”Fashioneer” was the winner of their recent ”What’s The Good Word?” contest.  LOVE IT!

One of my all time favorites online shopping stops is ModCloth.com.  They have the most fantastic little retro-inspired dresses from independent designers.  Check it out!
